Watership Down was rated U in the UK, which is roughly equivalent to a G rating in the US (it was rated PG in the US, but even that's not strong enough).







None of those were even the most traumatizing scene for me, which was when they caught a runaway rabbit and three other rabbits scratched him up as punishment/torture.

WD was hardcore. I started to watch it with my kids when they were little, and very quickly said "nope, nope, nope."

I had only read the book...same with Red Fern, so I knew better than to watch the movie.

But Bambi is the correct answer to OP...at least for older generation.

ETA Rikki Tikki Tavi was one that stressed me out as a kid...but don't remember if it was traumatic or just scary to a 4 year old.
