There needs to be a certain baseline standard I think landlords need to be held to. And while I do believe in the free market and how it has a way of working things out. The real estate market is far from a free market so it doesn't exactly apply. And yes there are situations where families don't have the luxury to just pick up and move or able to shop city wide for numerous reasons. And yes there are no doubt slum lords. I believe If there is going to be some sort of standard and inspections it needs to be done by the local government with checks to eliminate as much incentives as possible and by no means bring in an outside company especially one from out of state.
