Effects of Flooding?

After Katrina, new construction boomed and prices went up.
Personally, I don't see that this time. We learned not to use Chinese Sheetrock, and once you get a house gutted, you can live in it.
Labor may be in short supply, but it can be brought in.
Dunno? Anybody see the effects of the flooding in the real estate market / construction / etc?

I just hope the value of my un-flooded house in STA skyrockets so I can sell it and build a batchelor pad in the middle of a cow pasture somewhere.

We were looking to move anyway.
Our house has 6ft 10in. Of water and will more than likely be condemned.
I'm afraid we won't be able to find a house to buy.

New construction boomed where? I live in BSL and it seems like a very small percentage of homes have rebuilt.

There is plenty of mexican labor around. They will flock to baton rouge.
That is a good thing. They work hard and work at fair prices. Only downside I have seen is language barrier makes it hard to tell them exactly what you want. My fault, I should have paid more attention in spanish class.
