I live in Portland, and it seems to be more liveable than Seattle. Having said that, Both cities have a ton of stuff to do within 1-2 hours of the city. Skiing, boating, hiking, whitewater rafting, camping, beachcombing, etc... There are also plenty of great restaurants and bars in both cities.

Seattle would be a tougher place to live, I think. Especially if you work downtown.

I love both PDX and SEA, but I was more impressed with Portland and its transit when I was there in '14.

Seattle is a fun city and beautiful too but I could handle Portland better.
