When you say "rewired" do you also mean the heavy gauge cables to the batteries? If not, please reconsider...if those cables were underwater for any length of time they'll corrode..and eventually cause the batteries to fail to deliver rated voltage to the motor...creating a strain on the batteries and potentially the motors as well.
