Interstellar is the best space movie of all-time as of now, I know some may disagree and say Space Odyssey is, but I disagree.

I wish I could go back and relive how much in awe I was during that entire film in IMAX. I was literally on the edge of my seat throughout.

Count me among those people. You have to put them in the context of their time. 2001 was released in 1968. 1968! I suggest watching it again with a Post-It note stuck to the bottom of the TV that says "this was made in 1967" on it so that you are contently reminded. It's dumbfounding that he was able to do what he did in 1967.

Relative to the time it was made, 2001 is a thunderously, earth-shatteringly amazing technical feat. Interstellar, while very good, was really not that incredible at all, technically speaking, for its time.

I can think of a handful of "space movies" off the top of my head that are leagues better than Interstellar. It wasn't even the best science fiction film to come out that year. Some of you guys, Christ.
