I think if read correctly.. he could never get it to Rod's people... so knowing how Peter's voice was similar, he presented it to the band.
I do think Ace was the best musician and he sure influenced a lot of young people. Vincent may have been one of the best writers. And I don't think Paul is a slouch in the studio (he grew into his playing) - his '78 solo albums isn't bad. One thing I do like about Paul is that he will criticize himself. He has stated that the material he wrote for the side four side of Alive II was crap. I don't mind All American Man but I do see his point.

Vincent collaborated well with them, but left to his own wares....well, just listen to the wankery of the Vinnie Vincent Invasion, lol...
Paul does criticize himself, but he usually does it to justify himself before throwing someone else under the bus, lol...if you ever read his book, you might see that he rarely holds himself accountable for much of anything.
