Jason Hammel deserves a lot of credit. He is unbeaten in his last five, with a 1.16. It looked for a while like he would slink back to his usual self in the second half.
Totally agree BMC. When he hit that spot a few weeks back where he was just getting pounded, I just figured the second half regression was just part of his M.O. and to be expected. Good job by him to rally back, potato chips or whatever it takes. A pleasant surprise actually.

Yeah man. Ill be at Coors next weekend and it looks like we'll either see Lackey or Hammel depending on what they do with the rotation for the doubleheader. Hammel has pitched when I saw him in Spring Training, and last year when I saw the Cubs. My buddy has watched Hammel get lit up at the last four Cubs games he's been to.
It's like he's the only pitcher we're allowed to see. Not so bad though with the way he has been throwing as of late.

Chapman looked a little hurt too and Rondon already has been out nine days with an arm injury.

What was wrong with Chapman? I just noticed he was sweaty.

He looked like he was limping a bit to me. He was definitely sweating his nads off though

He stumbled off the mound into a hole on one pitch and kinda seemed to be laboring after that. Still throwing like 104. It was probably nothing but Harold Reynolds and Co were acting like it was an injury.

Not the best place for any pitcher. Been to a couple of games there as my best friend used to live in Denver.
Cubs lost every time I went. Nice park but of the new trendy parks built in the last 10-20 years I preferred the ones in Pittsburg and San Francisco.
I'd rate Coors about with Minute Made and the one in San Diego.

I love Coors Field. True that the air factor can suck for just about any pitcher. The stadium has been maintained very well, doesn't look like a place that was built in the mid-90's.
Also, what they've done with The Rooftop in right field is awesome. Great place to hang out and watch a game, and also spawned similar areas in Cleveland & St Louis. I keep waiting for Seattle to convert their right field upper deck.

Banana i trust you will handle the game thread today? If Bull Durham has taught me anything it's that you never frick with a winning streak.

I think I can handle it. At the end of this, the Cardinals could be 16 games out.

I can get on board with that.
