Open waivers doesn't make leagues good. Just the opposite. Terrible rule

I'll respectfully disagree Lester. It may not make the league better per se but it makes it more interesting. It shows who really wants to win as opposed to waiting your turn on the waiver wire. to each his own though, my league loves it

how do you get around the 3am alarm/open waivers scenario?

We did this one year by accident. A few of us (12 man league) were up at 1 AM just looking at players and we found out that it was free-for-all. Of course, people complained but they later admitted they would have exploited the loophole as well.
