I like Marcus Wood and think he'll make a good head coach.
I normally don't care for southern fundamentalist bible-thumpers, but he always makes a practical application to his "bible lessons" and does not seem to be trying to convert the players.
Once again, it is odd that Marcus has been named "Head Coach in Waiting." It makes me believe that the university president/AD has let Buddy know this coming season will be his last.
And I think Buddy is genuine, though volatile. And while it wasn't that big a deal, that "a-hole" anecdote was inappropriate for after-dinner speaking at the local rotary club.
While the show only gave us that glimpse of him reaching for the hypodermic in the fridge, Buddy is obviously a type-1 diabetic who takes insulin. I hope, with his temper and as high-strung as he is, that he doesn't have high blood pressure.

Cringeworthy scene

I didn't find him genuine, especially when he "watched the tape" of the brawl. He probably realized how much his team turned against him after he called them thugs for having their teammate's back.
