This says the Nest doesn't need wifi to work, just that it enables certain features. This is how I would expect it to work... what would cause it to stop working properly as apparently has happened?

in january the units went offline because they were incorrectly interpreting 'low battery' from the cloud and going into hibernation mode.

weird and not sure what happened this time but it seems like a bit too much reliance on the cloud for stuff that should be running locally.

WTF. my honeywell either gets power from the c-wire or it doesn't. the CR2025 battery is just there to remember my wifi password and maybe the time of day.
