For shallow water stuff and without actually seeing the rod, and given the fact that it's an inshore rod, an 8000 will be way too big. I think a 6000 would be too, but it would probably be closer.

ETA: If you go Bait Runner, consider the Thunnus. It's more expensive by about $100, but it's lighter. Also, the gearing is supposed to be heavier duty.
