Find a dealer that accepts guns for transfer.
Have them fax/email their FFL to whom you are purchasing from.
Pay for the gun.
Gun is shipped to your dealer.
Fill out 4473 at your dealer, pass NICS, pay for the transfer, go home with gun.

If the seller is across state lines from you, you will have to arrange to have the weapon shipped to a local FFL dealer, who will then complete the transaction and process your 4473 and NICS check for you, typically for a fee (normally $10 to $25, but some charge more.)
