dc is 2 hours. richmond is one hour. drive from dc is really pretty. charlottesville is in a scenic area, but it makes austin seem like plano politically.
uva football games are high schoolish. any high school game in the south provides a better atmosphere and experience. tickets will be plentiful and cheap. go to a game in blacksburg instead.
