He didn't ask how to download kodi.
I know this is no help to the OP, but that's ALL I'm going to do with the Fire Stick. I'm an Amazon guy. I even love the Kindle. But, I'm no fan of the Fire TV system.
Roku is stupid easy and good. If I could get Kodi to work on it, it would be nearly perfect. I've heard all the talk about getting alternatives to work, but I can't get Icefilms and the like to work. I can't find a Roku alternative that even approaches Exodus, for example.

Our TVs have the FireTV and they allow us to access Kodi, Plex, Playstation Vue, HBO Go, WatchESPN, plus Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, YouTube.
We also have Roku sticks here at at our lake house. I added Playstation Vue, and the GUI sucks. No timeline, no program description, no favorites.
We also have Chromecast.
We also have Blu-Ray and also some of the TV's have built-in apps.
Point is, none of them do everything, so complaining is just wasted energy. Just do what you have to do. Stuff is cheap.
