I am currently in Norway for 3 1/2 weeks completely solo. I have 5 days left.
I would say Mexico is a little different, but you're in a resort area so many things should be the same.
1) This is my first total trip solo. The night before I left I basically had a panic attack because it is unnerving to think about. But in all reality, it's pretty awesome.
2) There are ups and downs. There are things you do and you say "Man, wish someone could have witnessed that with me." Or "I really want to do such and such, but don't want to go alone." However, there is also the "frick it, I don't feel like doing that today so I'm gonna do whatever the Hell I feel like."
3) Overall, just be friendly and personable. Don't hesitate talking to people if you want to. I've eavesdropped on so many conversations while I've been here, and they have all ended up well. Literally 10 minutes ago in the lobby, I met a group of people from Denham Springs...yea...in Norway....Denham....insane. But I was walking by and I heard them talk, so I asked them where they were from and we started talking. I also met this cute little waitress in Northern Norway and went out with her and her friends...simply because I was striking up a convo. Also, when people ask you who you're with (and they almost always will), and you say yourself...95% of humans couldn't imagine traveling alone so you instantly gain mad respect from others.
I don't know if any of that helps, but traveling alone can be just as rewarding as traveling with people.
