From what I understand, this bacteria typically infects people with compromised immune systems. I would think these people would have died a similar death in the pre-antibiotic days.

do you think that they were born with these compromised immune systems or is it the fact that they've taken so much meds over their lifetime that their bodies just said "frick it"?
