I honestly would not have fired them for this but would have laughed my arse off at this and took the time to advice not to do that again.

I probably would have done the same if it had just been the petition. The problem is she asked the manager herself and the other interns all asked their managers and they all were told that it was not possible and THEN they did this petition crap. That is unacceptable.
