This is true. My family has been Mormon since before the move to Utah, and after almost two hundred years of hardcore genealogy, the amount of research is ridiculous. My grandma has this huge paper family tree that she did that's like 10'x20'. It goes back before the Viking period to people with single names like Ug and Ork.
