The ROMAN achievements have not been reached yet, they were the greatest for the longest, hail Rome!

What Roman achievements have not been reached? Aside from longevity, of course. I think Rome was big and awesome but I also think it was overrated. They lost plenty of battles, and their economic and technological progress was stymied by a dependence on slavery. Once Rome reached it's natural borders and had no one in reach to conquer, it lost that stream revenue and it's lack of a developed economy really showed. Frequent inability to peacefully crown a new emperor led to destructive civil wars. They deserve much credit for the invention of concrete, but I'm not sure what else they built that hadn't already been invented, they just did it on a larger scale.
