I see this comment quite a bit from southerners. How are we isolating ourselves? Minorities are free to move anywhere in the country. We can't help where they choose to live. Should we be paying to move them in or should we leave and move to them to avoid accusations that we're "isolating" ourselves?

It's fundamental, inherent, intrinsic... I mean, no one is saying y'all are actively doing it now, but due to the way things were laid out in the past, be that restrictions in the past based on deed restrictions, or issues with loans, or decisions to build the projects all in one place, or whatever. In the present, in the NE, the layout of the neighborhoods in terms of who lives where is solidly white in one vast area, and darkness over in a completely separate area. In the south and west, for the most part, everyone is intermixed in terms of where they live.

Says the guy who was happily pimping Austin for not having many minorities when the city has plenty and you don't see them where you live b/c the it's segregated to the point the fricking highway was placed where it is to cut blacks and Hispanics off from the white side of town.

The South and West are just as bad as the NE when it comes to cities being segregated in the exact way you mentioned. Texas cities are especially guilty of it.
