That is pretty true.

It's always just interesting when a hear such glowing things about V&E online after hearing two friends (different practice areas) experiences. Both have since bailed so things might have changed since
There are, or were, a couple practice areas there that are (or were) notorious for how awful the partners treated associates and how much was demanded of associates. One must also consider the make up of people that have left. Not that they are weak or stupid, but only that a certain pace of life may be expected (really in most law firms) that some people can't keep up. Nothing wrong with that. Priorities lie in different areas for people. I could never work 7a to 9p every day. I'd fricking quit. But plenty of people do it, and not all of them are lawyers.

The stories were from before they left. These were people I knew from law school and chatted with pretty often a while back.
Most of the now Norton Rose people I've met have been through work, so I may be getting a particular exposure to the groups I work with on that side.

Oh I didn't mean billing. I meant actually working the hours. As far as I understand (I'm not an attorney and have never billed anything), you get to generally bill about 70 percent or maybe a little less of the hours you are actually in the office and not eating lunch.

You can easily live off 180k in NYC. Even if you pay 4k a mo for housing.

Not going to affect starting salaries in Alexandria, La.

Depends on how you bill and how your firm counts hours. I don't miss much time during the day (except days like today) which is how I bill roughly all of my time while at work.

Gay men.
He's a very good looking male gigolo who caters exclusively to homosexual men. It's not gay if they pay you for it.
