I mean, how familiar will the average gamer be with WW1? Other than history courses through high school and college, I wouldn't know that much about it if I hadn't done independent research on a the subject. WW1 isn't regularly brought up as a comparison like WW2 still is. An EA executive being scared of the prospect of folks not knowing a whole lot about WW1 seems ridiculous, but it's not without merit.

I would argue that since the Battlefield 1 reveal trailer is the most liked video in the history of youtube, and the general hype around it being higher than the average battlefield release, that supposed risk about it has been disproven. At least it terms of wether or not the game will sell well. Wether or not the game is any good is another story. But after the disaster of battlefront, is there anywhere else to go but up?
