Mazen's, The Harlequin are very good for steaks. Both are on College, the street paralleling 210, near Ryan.
Pronia's on Kirkman is good for muffulettas.
Chastain's on Ryan isn't bad but it's small. (It was a Taco Bell back in the early 80s)
Steamboat Bills is good but it's pricey for what you get. There are two locations, one on the feeder road to I-10 downtown and the other is at Broad and Hwy 14. The gumbo is really good but again, pricey for what you get.
If you want boiled crawfish, Heinen's at Lake and Country Club road. That place is great. You have to get it to go though.
Seafood Palace on Enterprise is good. The fried catfish is very good.
Ball's fried chicken is good if you're looking for something other than Popeyes. Two locations: One on common behind McNeese and the other is on Enterprise Blvd, close to I-10.
Que Pasa at Nelson and Sale has some great tacos. My dad and I loved eating their tacos, big, bubbly shells. It's a sister restaurant of Casa Mañana that's on Ryan. Great salsa.
Good chinese at LA Star on Ryan. That building was once a Piccadilly cafeteria. I like that place.
Stay away from Panda Super Buffet out on Hwy. 14. They're jerks. Long story but trust me on this.
Kyoto's, near Hwy 14 is very good too.
Not many good wing places, the same old thing. Buffalo Wild Wings near Target and there's Wing Stop on Ryan, near Five Guy's hamburgers.
Darrell's is decent, but it's just sandwiches. They're mayo is pretty awesome though.
That's about all I can think of, other than the regular things you find in any city.
ETA: Forgot about Cotton's burgers on Oak Park Blvd. Their fried onion strings are great and the burgers are very good. They do close early though. Hackett's Kitchen on Hwy 14 is good but they close at 3:00. Good plate lunches.

I'd add Prime Cutery on Country Club and Wasabi on Ryan.

Pappy's is also a LC Staple... all the Who's Who will be there daily for lunch (Police Chief, Mayor, City Council, DA, Attorneys). Get the Jalapeno Club with Curly Fries.
There's also a bad arse taco joint on Broad Street in the Exxon Gas Station.
If you want to venture out for some Soul Food, need to try Full Do's on Moeling St. Make sure you just go for lunch, not the best neighborhood for night time ventures.
121 has the best steak in town...not even close
Best real Mexican food is El Tapatio on Hwy 14. They just got their liquor license. Fajitas Bravas and Queso Blanco.
Find the Sloppy Taco Food Truck...
Botsky's Downtown for Gourmet HotDogs...
All of these places are Locally Owned and Operated.
