Read these things you've said and try and analyze them from an objective place.

1) You think he is a really smart guy.
2) You think he is a "tool bag"
3) The previously mentioned assesment is based solely on the fact that he has a different opinion on a particular subject than you.
4) You fall into the category of people who dont even want to consider, read, or acknowledge an opposing point of view.
5) You use terms like "gargles his balls"
