Birmingham is more like a kid-friendly place as far as the big name activities. The Zoo, McWane Science Center, The Vulcan, etc. There are a bunch of local bars with live music. But unless there is a festival going on, not a whole lot else as far as activities. What days are you going to be here?

If you are into outdoor activities, check out Oak Mountain State Park. They have cable skiing and paddle boarding, as well as several trails.
