quote:Giving up 3 runs isn't enough when it comes to the postseason, especially now when pitching is dominant.
As in, enough for the Dodgers to win
2013: 1 horrible game and then 3 games where he pitched like the best pitcher in baseball
2014: horrible game then what amounts to an average game for him (3 earned runs followed by 8)
2015: 1 Kershaw type of game then an average game for him.
So since 2013 he has had
4 Kershaw type of games
2 horrible games
2 average games
As the best pitching in baseball he should be rolling out Kershaw type games when the Dodgers need him most which means 7 innings, 2 runs or less 2 walks or less, and 8+ strikeouts. Is the bar set high? Yes because of what he has accomplished during the regular season.
Pedro would be a good pitcher to compare with, he had unworldly numbers during the regular season but during the post-season he was just good rather than great. The difference is Pedro was part of the Boston team that broke the curse and part of the greatest rivalry.

quote:meh. One of those starts that he gave up 3 runs only happened because the bullpen couldn't get him a third out and another because he got babipd because Hanley couldnt play short worth a damn. I mean we are straight up inches here and there from not having this conversation at all

quote:and I fully understand that. My argument is never against "he hasn't been as good as he is during the season". It's against "he pitches poor in the playoffs" because he really doesn't
