I respect everyone until they give give me a reason not to. That courtesy should be extended to every human and animal, IMO.
I do not however feel sorry for them. I had no clue just how bad it is in the United States (And the south in particular) until I lived in Europe for 3 years and moved back. My mother in law nearly had a heart attack at how many extremely obese people we saw just while in the airport in Atlanta when we flew back to the states.
Outside of serious health issues (that you didn't bring upon yourself) I'll never understand how people are content with living like that. Honestly I feel more sorry for them than anything.
