re: Why does New Orleans have a high rate of crime.

I had a meeting this morning in NO East on Bullard Ave for a new commercial project. I was there from 10:30 am to 11:20 and never saw a single police officer drive by the area. I was also fortunate to see a late model sedan on I-610 on cinder blocks with all four tires removed and nowhere to be seen.

I was armed and kept my head on a swivel, but cannot fathom what happens there when the sun goes down and no police to be found for miles.
