Was in the area yesterday so I swung by Jean Lafitte National Park. Wasn't really dressed for a long walk so I just did the visitor center trail, which is about 30 minutes long each way. I saw 11 snakes - 5 Broad-Banded water snakes, 3 Ribbons, and 3 Black-Masked Racers. Took some photos on my phone, but my computer and photobucket are screwed up for some reason. If I can get it working I'll post a few. Probably the most snakes I've seen there in one day, especially on that trail.

I haven't had a lot of luck lately. But, here's a few recent finds. Turtles are out everywhere, laying eggs, I guess.

Eastern box turtle

Common snapping turtle

Southern painted turtle

Yellow bellied water snake

Midland rat snake

Bullfrog
