Absolutely. Even in a winning rebuilding phase I'd just cut my loses and have 23 million coming off the bench and would happily pay him $10 million next season in the opt out

Peraza was brought up to fill the roster spot vacated by Billy Hamilton, who was placed on the bereavement list. Hamilton will only be away from the team for 3-to-7 days, and it remains to be seen if Peraza will remain with the big club when Hamilton returns. However, he did hit .295 over 30 games with Louisville this season and is one of the Reds' better prospects, so there is a good chance he at least sees some action with the big club over the next few days.
