Usually when guys like this hit the open market they get the #1 contract at their position at the time because of the increase of the salary cap. It's a really good deal.

tyron's smith's deal like 2 years ago was considered a bargain and that was 2 year ago cap numbers, this is marginally more and a dang near equal talent. we'll end up getting 9 years of stellar LT play for great value.

Right but that's why I later added he's only 3rd by 300k per. It's a small gap.
But I also said it's a great contract for a great player.
He may have gotten a little more next year (tag was going to be about $14 mil) but it is not some great bargain.
We got him for slightly under market value. Great for us yes, but not a steal.
