Looking for a bayou/creek or scenic lake to kayak down near Alexandria/Pineville area. Any ideas?

a few come to mind...
a couple of beautiful cypress lakes would be Spring Bayou and Cocodrie lake.
Another option would be to put in at indian creek at the free landing on the back side of the lake (H Strange Rd, I think) and paddle the coves in that area...

I second the two previously mentioned places. Maybe check out Cotile Lake, Kincaid Lake, or Valentine Lake.

Thanks for the tips! I checked out cocodrie and looks like we'll be heading there this weekend!

Bayou Des Glaises from Moreauville to Bordelonville. About 10 to 12 miles. Bring a pole, no body ever fishes it.

It's ALL private property on both sides the bayou. Unless you know someone, there's really no place to park. Maybe park by the locks, but the sides of the bayou are steep. You could always go to the Iron Bridge in Big Bend and park. But that end of the bayou gets fished pretty hard.

great...as with all cypress lakes, it is pretty easy to get disoriented, so bring a GPS or compass and map.
also, post back here and let us know how you liked the place.

I'm from there and I'm in the area very often. Across the locks in Big Bend gets fished regularly. Other than a few locals, haven't seen even a moderate amount of people fishing in the Bville side in years. Trust me, I know the people that fish it. But being from BR I guess you know better than me.

Didn't mean to offend, maybe in recent years it hasn't gotten much pressure. In years past though there were people who fished it very regularly.

Also, fair warning to the dude going, if you are gonna pull off the road next to a bridge to launch, get out and walk around the grass before you pull your truck in, because people out there use roofing tacks like crazy to deter visitors.

No worries Coco. My brother ( who lives in Bville) and I go about once a year and crush the bass. The Mercury level is pretty high in the fish. Not that it would kill you, but would recommend eating fish often form the bayou.
