LSU and Bama will almost always be the best comparison to actual NFL play. None of the scouts know how a player will play against real NFL talent, but LSU and Bama both have close to NFL speed across the board.

I think both Cameron and Orgeron indicated that the way LSU runs practice is very similar to NFL practice. A lot of our football coaches have a year or more coaching in the NFL.
ETA: For that matter, I've heard a number of comments over the years (going back to our previous head coach) from NFL coaches after drafting our players say things like, "They run a very pro-like system down there. When we get a player from LSU, we know the transition is going to be a smooth one from where they were to the way we do things here."
