Unless the insulation is infested with animal waste, there's really no point in removing it. It's loose fill I'm assuming? I would honestly just blow more insulation on top of the old.

Blow in on top of existing. Rather than spray foam, install radiant barrier on rafters. You'll get a drastic reduction in attic temp. for a fraction of the cost. Ridge Vents are great if you have the proper venting in your soffits or gable venting.
