It's a tiny job, no good painter will show up to do it

Good counterpoint. May want to find more work for the guy or try your luck on your own. The good news is that if you screw it up, you won't have a ton of money tied up into it.
Perhaps tell your fiancee that it will cost $1,000 for a quality painter to paint it, and if she doesn't balk at that price, buy a new door for cheaper than that price. Or you can find a new fiancee and it will probably save you hundreds of thousands of dollars over time.

She is out fricking another guy right now laughing that her sissy fiancee can't / won't paint a door.

1. It doesn't take 3 coats of paint if you go with a good quality paint.
2. It's not hard to do a good job without showing brush strokes to excess.
3. We're talking about painting a door. If you can't figure how to do that and do a good job, you're a retard.
4. The red door thing is so overplayed these days.

I'd imagine you can rent a sprayer and make fairly quick work of it if you were to try it on your own. You can also try asking around and seeing if someone you know owns a sprayer.

That's a good idea. I hate cleaning sprayers, but I've been known to buy one, use it once and throw it away. If I do that, it's probably still cheaper than hiring a pro, and that's assuming I can get one to come out just for a door.

Call a local cabinet shop. They will likely have you bring it to them, use their paint, and pick it up and then you hang it in just a couple of days. A couple of hundred bucks and it will be done right.

Ask the painters to give you 3 quotes each. Economy, pretty good, superbest.
