What do you mean, he could never talk? There's no penalty for the batter.

"Any other action as if calling time" is interpreted as including verbal, hence the reason the MSU runner was sent back to 2nd base.

Fair enough. I knew the rule and didn't think it included verbally calling time.

Batter mimicked the umpire. His "timeout" yell sounded exactly like the umpire from the play before.
I had to see the batter actually move his lips because I thought the umpire had called it.
