Sledge was a good dude that just had a bunch of bad shite happen to him in a short period. His kid got killed in his bike, got divorced, mother suicide. Dude took some time out of office to get straight and left some paralegal in charge. Not defending him... He should've hired a lawyer to help but I still think the guy got a raw deal.
