I used to be in this camp....until my cheaper paddle snapped in half paddling back to the launch in Delacroix. Lsuson can testify to that, he was there.
Bought a bending branches paddle and immediately saw a difference. Plus it was lighter.

I'm sure the BB is better, but if I'm giving advice to a novice kayaker, I'm not going to tell him to get a $150 paddle.
I have the BB Scout (I think that's what it's called) but I leave it at the house. I take the $25 NoLimit.
