Reds, Phillies, Rockies, Brewers, Braves aren't even trying...in complete rebuilding mode. Far worse than any AL team. Throw SD in there too.
That's a lot of at bats and games against a lot of minor league talent.

Dude c'mon...
This isn't a Royals vs Cardinals thing or an AL vs NL thing...objectively speaking, the NL has fantastically elite teams, but also they have most of the worst teams in MLB.
