EL PASO — A Dallas man was arrested on the border while trying to smuggle over a million dollars worth of methamphetamine hidden in the wheels of his SUV, federal authorities said.
...officers found more than 50 pounds of meth, with a street value of more than $1.6 million.
A drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to something unusual in the rear of the vehicle.
Officers removed the back tires and found custom-manufactured metal collars bolted to the rims. The metal collars were cut open and revealed about a dozen meth-filled bundles.
