I would have liked it more if I didn't go in thinking the show was more about the jfk assassination.

The bulk of the book is about that, with the love story as a backdrop. At least how I interpreted it.
Does the show include him going back to save the school janitor's family on Halloween night? That part was the most compelling part of the book to me.
