Is that because you want people to know it is you calling (from your phone number) or is it absolutely required? If not required, will it just generate a random (and perhaps different) number every time?

No. It's because I am using my cell phone with the service and if I just dial out from my cell phone they will see that number. I don't want some of the contractors I deal with having my cell number and bothering me after hours. To show the "office" number on their caller ID I have to dial it first then it prompts me to enter the number I am calling. They have an app for iPhone that makes it easier but nothing for Android yet.
