No, that's exactly what we did when we went on our honeymoon. The wifi even carried down to the beach

Just came back from Cozumel for the first time, this thread would have come in handy
-Bring Sunscreen and Aloe
-Bring a couple hundred in 1's to tip for pool/beach side service, not needed at restaurants
-Turn phone data off, so it only uses wifi for data or just turn onto airplane mode
-Watch out for the timeshare people at airport and basically everywhere in Mexico
-Mexico airport didn't play around with the quart bag and liquids(I haven't done that in my last 20 flights in the US, the quart bag part) I had to find someone who had an extra one or they were gonna make me throw my shite away.

I was shocked, the wifi power and coverage was worlds better than any US hotel I've been too.
