auto like the Eco Drive
Are you just referring to the fact that an Eco Drive "automatically" charges itself? Because as I'm sure you know, it is a quartz movement. I had an Eco Drive and liked the way it looked, but it did break on me (dropped it from about waist high). Brought it to a jewelry store that sold them and they basically told me it probably wasn't worth trying to fix it. Only experience I have with them, so I could be a fluke. But I wish it would have been a little more robust (wasn't a very bad fall at all)

So you dropped a watch on the floor and it broke, and that means the watch is poor quality?

what did you do then?
I'd of donated it...then go shopping for another, unless the jeweler had a decent one...

Yes.
I know.
Energy is stored in a capacitor? Or something like it from a light source. I meant for OP that it does not need winding and is not a "battery". So he'll never need to swap a battery. However when an Eco-Drive "dies" that fricker is dead. Not worth sending a $200 watch to Japan to be serviced.
My Eco-Drive "Orca" (google it) is damned ugly. But I love it. It has lasted 5 years, but it is in a rotation. Wrist time for it is about once a week.
