Another take on Tubberville.....

First, I don't profess to be an expert but do have a little knowledge about him from people I know here in Arkansas that are friends with him. I asked a few questions back when the A&M stuff was going on and was told that he was not going to A&M and Arkansas was the only place he had considered going. I was also told that he is around 6 yrs from retirement and did not want the headache of taking a program over that has lost key recruits, it's top player and is lacking in depth. It was my understanding that he was staying at Auburn until retirement.
Now, I find it hard to believe that he is in the middle of getting a new contract worked out with Auburn that is 7 yrs (funny how that falls damned close to the retirement year I was told) and then goes straight to Arkansas to take a job. First, he has not gotten permission to speak to Arkansas. Second, info like this is not going to leak out unless it was wanted to be leaked. My guess is that Sexton is working Auburn for a few concessions and is using Arkansas as a pawn because he knows they are desperate and will offer Tubberville the moon. Oh, how quickly they forget how Sexton and Nutt worked Arkansas over that BS move to Nebraska. I won't believe this until I see EARS on the news saying he took it.

Is this not a popular opinion with all our newfound HOG posters?

I never discounted that this could be the case... whatever happens happens.

I agree. The fact that Arkansas has not asked permission to Tuberville strikes me as a sign that this will be retracted soon

How long until programs stop dealing with Sexton b/c of stuff like this? He's the Poston brothers or Scott Boras of NCAA football.

Pioneer, I like you and a few other posters. What is going on right now makes absolutely no sense and brings back memories of Sexton working Arkansas AND LSU. This is his MO. Get negotiations started at one school, take his client to another and do the same. Get the present school backed into a corner and BAM....his client gets what he wants and stays at his current school.

I agree with most of what you wrote. that is a very real possibility. but I think things with Bobby Lowder and TT have reached their limits. from what i hear TT wants lowder gone and it just isn't gonna happen. Ark. will give him the security, respect, and control he's been looking for.

how do you know it as fact? because it hasn't been leaked that they have asked, because Auburn hasn't put something out that they have? just curious if it's a prerequsite that that info be made public beforehand. maybe you're right, idk.

Let me first say I don't care if you believe me or not. I was given this information by the man himself today. A certain administrator on here knows who I am and knows my source. Here is the story.
Tommy was offered a 10 year 35 million dollar deal yesterday with the UA paying the buyout. There are some in the AU administration and 2 powerful boosters that do not want Tommy anymore because of various issues, not only football related. Tommy is holding out for more money, not just for himself but for his assistants who many will come with him. Today Tommy and Long reached a tentative agreement that will pay Tommy 3.75 million a year for 10 years with more money coming to him if he wins the SEC and/or NC among various other incentives. Tommy is not represented by Sexton. Sexton serves as his advisor only. Tommy made this deal himself with Sexton's help as an advisor and AU gave AR permission to talk to him according to Tommy's contract which made him ask permission.
There you have it.
Tommy is the next coach of the University of Arkansas. Official announcement will be made on Sunday.

I think the Lowder stuff is much to do about nothing. This is what I was told by someone who knows him so take it for what it's worth....Tubberville has a good team coming back next year. He expects to finish with a better recruiting class than many expect and likes his situation at Auburn. He is getting very close to retirement and just does not want the headache of re-building a team. You can look at him on the field and tell he's lost a little of that "edge". I'm not saying it won't happen or that things have not changed but the opinion I was left with was that he would not leave Auburn. This was coming from someone who would very much like for him to make the move!

Where did that quote come from?

Too long of a post. don't you know I've been reading this shite for a week non-stop

The "Sexton as an advisor" is what throws me off on that one. Sexton is in it for the money and is not just going to be an "advisor" when that much money is on the table.

Funny how many rumors are running rampant around the SEC about Sexton's Clients. Yes SEC fans its that time of year again. Sexton client salary escalation season. Funny how he ran most of his clients thru bama last year for raises. This year he is running them thru LSU, Arky etc.
Posted on 11/29/07 at 9:17 pm to TheChamp
Yep, Ole Piss gave Nutt a raise at 1.8 Mil but now Arkansas is suddenly going to pay a 6MIL buyout, almost 4 mil per year on a nearly 40 MIL contract to get Tubby. They are also supposedly going to let the current coaches do the bowl game but those same coaches are supposedly losing their jobs SUNDAY since Tubberville is bringing most of his current staff. It really does not add up.
