I know you said that you weren't ready and wouldn't have another dog for awhile but I wouldn't shut down the idea. I went through this a few years ago when one of my two dogs got hit. It was just so quiet around the house and my wife and I were both moping around. I finally just said screw it we're going to look for new pups. We were able to go and look at dogs and talk about our dog that had been killed and it was therapeutic to do that. We found one that is best friends in the world with our other dog and they are inseparable.
I don't know if it was the quietness or the wanting to take care of something or even feeling like we were giving a dog a life they wouldn't have gotten otherwise but going and getting another dog was the best decision I made. Just something to consider.

Wish I could offer you words of advice ... But you certainly have my condolences. My pup is only 5 months old and I definitely looked at him differently tonight. I hope I never take him for granted, I've had him for such a short period of time yet I can't imagine life without him.

Keeping y'all in my thoughts.

After reading this post I just hugged my dog and gave him a treat. He has no idea why but I think he's cool with it.
