Is there a legendary travel ball coach to offer an opposing view?
These are personal decisions to each family, who enjoy active lifestyles and making friends and memories along the way. Sure, some folks get caught up but it's not most.
I've coached both and quite frankly most of the serious problems I saw were at the tee ball level, where many folks had yet to learn proper ballpark etiquette.

Take all the $$$ that a parent spends on travel ball, private lessons, and all the other stuff, and over the course of playing travel ball, they could have used that $$$ to pay for college and have young Jeter walk on and earn his scholarship. Saying "I got a scholarship because I played travel ball" is just not a good argument. Paying 2400$ to play beginning at 13 years old adds up to a lot of moolah
