One factor in the decision is if you are elderly and/or immuno compromised. So if you have the AIDS that could factor into the decision.
Because even a minor infection can be a serious issue for certain segments of the population. If you are a healthy young adult, they will be more willing to extract the tooth now versus waiting out the infection.*
*Not a dentist but am medically trained.
