Do coaches come up with these types of things on their own through creative innovation ?

Or do they attend special coach camps where they learn things like this?

One of the things I remember most when Coach Cam started was a drill where he had at the receivers stand behind a padded goalpost and catch hard passes thrown at them, it forced them to use their hands and simulated catching a pass around another player, if you were behind a defender, I thought it was brilliant
